A day centre was filled with music, laughter and community spirit during a special event for older citizens.
The Rayleigh Lions Club sponsored a strawberry tea at the Hockley and Hawkwell day centre on Saturday, when more than 50 guests enjoyed a full afternoon tea and live entertainment.

The event aimed to celebrate older people in the area and offer a fun, social afternoon in a supportive environment.
The centre , which welcomes more than 150 residents each week, plays a crucial role in tackling loneliness by providing hot meals and a variety of activities. Events like this , organisers say, offer a vital lifeline for those who might otherwise feel isolated.

Phil Smith, vice-chairman of the Hockley and Hawkwell day centre, said “We enjoy a close relationship with the Rayleigh Lions Club and to sponsor  an event  like this means so much to our clients.”
“Many live on there own and trips to the centre give them so much enjoyment.
We cannot thank them enough.”
